Cheltenham on Friday

Having won over course and distance last time and having beaten two of tomorrow's four opponents in the process, Standin Obligation has the look of a standing dish in the opener. He's likely to go off at around even money.

Paul Nicholls' Kicks For Free will be a warm order in the last. I think Twiston Davies' Battlecry has potential and rates a decent each way bet at around 10/1; a small reverse forecast / exacta those two horses may be called for.

The standing dish proved to be the incredible Spotthedifference, carrying top weight to victory on heavy ground over the Cheltenham cross country course. That was his sixth victory at Cheltenham at the ripe old age of thirteen. Standin Obligation on the other hand disappointed badly, finishing a well beaten third at 8/13.

Kicks For Free was sent off the even money favourite but found one too good in Tidal Bay. Battlecry was booked for third at an overpriced 25/1 when falling at the last.
